Role Overview

The Vice President of Engineering will be a key executive leader responsible for defining and executing the company's technology roadmap, building a world-class engineering team, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative drone products. This role requires close collaboration with the CEO, product teams, and other stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company's engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team, including hardware, software, and aerospace engineers.
  • Oversee the development of autonomous flight systems, AI-powered navigation, sensor integration, and communication protocols.
  • Manage product development cycles from R&D to prototyping and commercialization.
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and safety of drone systems, adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence within the engineering organization.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with investors, partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth development and deployment of products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams, including hardware, software, and AI/ML specialists.
  • Strong knowledge of UAV technologies, flight control systems, embedded systems, and sensor fusion.
  • Experience with FAA regulations and drone certification processes is a plus.
  • Track record of successfully bringing complex hardware/software products to market.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
