Summary
Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. They are also responsible for managing a team of technicians/engineering, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and to achieve high standards. As Engineering Manager, you will also assist the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in ensuring the efficient and economic operation of the Engineering Department in support of all other operating Departments, supplying services as required to the entire operation, and maintaining equipment, building, and grounds in optimum condition.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's/diploma degree from a related major, such as technician or Engineering degree. Should have BNSP Technician Certificate.
- Having solid technical knowledge is essential. Need to understand the basic principles in the field of engineering. The ability to read and understand engineering drawings is also a must.
- Having the ability to work together in a team and manage the team.
- Ability to analyze situations and solve problems that arise during the work process. Analytical expertise is required to identify and analyze technical issues with accuracy. The ability to plan and execute effective improvement measures is essential to ensure smooth hotel operations.
- Technical skills and having knowledge in Electrical/power plant, HVAC/chiller plant, mechanical and building management is a must for engineering manager. Ability to use Microsoft Office for reporting, or administrative ability to support the task of making reports.
- Ability to use design software and other engineering software (CAD – computer-aided design) is a plus.
- Management skills in managing budgets and operational costs, and strong leadership skills in coordinating teams and with other related departments.
- The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, is an important quality for interacting with the work team and other hotel staff. Being able to explain technical issues clearly. Able to read, understand, and follow technical instructions and equipment manuals.
- Minimum 2 years experience in the same position or 4 years experience as assistant manager engineering.
