The Role

As an Engineering Manager your role is to support the needs of the business, our guests, and colleagues by ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all hotel equipment, systems, and facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, and other systems, as well as responding promptly to guest requests and emergency situations. As a member of the Engineering department, you will ensure that all maintenance and repair activities are carried out to the highest professional standards, with guest comfort and safety as the top priority. Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure guest safety and promptly resolve any maintenance-related issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance as per the hotel’s maintenance schedule.
  • Perform regular inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air-conditioning, and other hotel systems.
  • Operate and maintain hotel-supplied tools and equipment professionally, ensuring they are stored properly after use.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized upon task completion.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Shift Engineer and Engineering team.
  • Participate in the hotel's energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Promote the use of environmentally friendly practices and materials.
  • Identify and suggest cost-saving opportunities across various departments.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure smooth hotel operations.

Qualifications and Standards

The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of experience as an Engineering Manager in a luxury hotel setting, with a strong background in pre-opening operations. They must possess proven expertise in managing engineering and maintenance functions, optimizing facility performance, and leading diverse teams in a fast-paced, high-end environment. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a deep understanding of safety regulations, sustainability practices, and industry best practices.
