Responsibilities
- The Director of Software Engineering for PBSCO will lead the overall technical strategy for the our flagship Fiesta photo booth application, internal tools and services, hardware integration, and new products and services
- This role reports to the VP of Engineering
- The Director of Software Engineering will collaborate closely with other department directors and leads, including, SQA, Product, Customer Experience, and Customer Success
- Project Management: Day-to-day management of engineering operations and Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retros, and grooming
- Ensure the scalability, stability, and security of our Cloud services
- Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and IT teams to implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines that ensure smooth, regular updates
- Lead, mentor, and grow an organization of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability
- Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and set engineering best practices to ensure high-quality code and efficient workflows
- Identify talent gaps and hire engineers to embed on feature teams as needed to support the project's growth
- Anticipate and resolve complex technical challenges, ensuring a seamless photobooth experience and minimizing latency, bugs, and crashes
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to keep the PBSCO's software at the forefront of the photo booth industry
- Manage technical timelines to ensure project milestones are met
- Manage technical risk and debt, collaborating with other leaders on making key decisions about when to refactor vs. innovate
- Coordinate with external technology partners, middleware providers, or platforms as necessary
KPIs
- On time delivery of multiple concurrent releases
- Elimination of customer-facing bugs
- Stabilization / reduction in app regressions
Requirements
- The role requires a blend of hands-on technical leadership, strategic thinking, and team management skills
- Proven experience (10+ years) in a technical leadership role, ideally with SaaS and mobile application experience
- Strong knowledge of SaaS delivery, networking, printing, and hardware integration
- Deep understanding of server and mobile architecture, cloud computing (AWS, Google Cloud), and backend services
- Strong programming skills and familiarity with our technical stack: React Native, Swift, Node, and C/C++
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies for Cloud and mobile
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills
- Knowledge of database systems, performance optimization, and live-service infrastructure
- Craft prototype implementations that explore the opportunities of AI capabilities
- Produce in-depth technical research documents
- Experience with managing multiple product lines simultaneously

- ClickUp experience preferred
- Start-up experience or a track record of excelling in a fast-paced environment
