Responsibilities And Duties
- Leadership and Vision: Lead the software engineering functions across all business areas, setting a strategic direction and vision for the team. Define a 5-year transformative roadmap in collaboration with the Strategy team to enhance OhioHealth's digital presence and customer engagement.
- Technology Platform Management: Ensure the overall health, stability, and growth of OhioHealth's technology platforms. Oversee the advancement of software engineering capabilities and the implementation of modern engineering principles.
- Collaboration and Partnership: Partner with other facets of delivery to direct the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions. Collaborate with clinical, care site, and corporate technology teams to integrate and optimize systems such as Epic, Workday Finance, HR & Supply Chain, Kronos, and digital platforms.
- Innovation and Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team. Leverage staffing models, including offshore partners, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strategic Planning: Participate as a member of the senior Information Systems management team in governance processes. Lead strategic technological planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
- Software Modernization: Lead software modernization efforts, including the adoption of SaaS solutions, a cloud-first approach, and strategies for modernizing legacy applications. Ensure that OhioHealth's technology stack remains current, scalable, and secure.
- Risk Management: Assess, evaluate, and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases. Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure continuous delivery of technical services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of systems, programs, and equipment performance. Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all technical staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree: Computer and Information Science
- University bachelor's degree in computer science or business administration. A master's degree is considered a plus.
- Ten (10) plus years of experience managing and/or directing technology operations.
- Seven (7) years of experience working in the healthcare industry and/or academic health science center environment.
- Experience in strategic technology planning, execution, and policy development.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business problems.
Specialized Knowledge
- Deep enterprise architecture knowledge and modern engineering principles.
- Proven leadership in transforming teams and ways of working.
- Significant experience managing large-scale enterprise architecture and application rationalization.
- Experience leveraging staffing models, including offshore, nearshore, and onshore team members.
- Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications.
- Technical experience with systems networking, databases, web development, and user support.
- Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional service orientation and ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
