SUMMARY
The Director of Engineering, Maintenance, EH&S and Security, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain, will oversee all facets of Engineering, Maintenance, Security, and MRO Buying. This role is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and business operations, ensuring sustainable improvements and significant financial impact. The Director will be accountable for master planning of capital and improvement projects across all manufacturing operations, corporate sustainability efforts, and site facilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Direct and coordinate all activities of strategic planning and continuous improvement in Engineering, Maintenance, MRO Buyer, EH&S and Security.
  • Oversees overall business continuity
  • Supports corporate and local sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee all aspects of the physical facility, including mechanical, electrical and process engineering and maintenance.
  • Utilize best purchasing practices to procure parts and supplies based on production needs, emphasizing cost efficiency.
  • Ensure all sites are adequately equipped with necessary safety and security measures.
  • Champion and lead cross-functional teams on improvement projects, including project selection, prioritization, management, and execution to sustain process improvement gains.
  • Translate strategic planning and KPI metrics into potential improvement projects and actionable items.
  • Provide Lean manufacturing leadership to reduce costs and effort loss by utilizing tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, 5S and visual factory concepts.
  • Utilize Six Sigma skills and leadership to identify and remove constraints, improving productivity through tools like DMAIC, Process Capability, Capability Ratio, DFSS, etc.
  • Research and recommend best practices in manufacturing technology suitable for the industry and regulatory environment.
  • Assist in long-term capacity master planning, development, and coordination of capital planning and spending.
  • Manage technical knowledge for manufacturing capital equipment and site facilities.
  • Support technical groups in specifying, sourcing, and overseeing the installation of process equipment for operations.
  • Represent technical areas during local, state, and federal regulatory and safety agency visits and audits.
  • Lead, design, and monitor manufacturing facility infrastructure for compliance, growth, and improvement, including critical utilities such as dust collection, water, electrical, steam, and compressed air, with attention to cGMP requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership and key stakeholders on field quality issues, including root cause identification and corrective action planning.
  
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in engineering, maintenance, facilities management, security, and safety oversight.
  • Strong CAPEX expertise, including proficiency in Financial/CAPEX Justification methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, adaptable to various audiences
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Advocacy for team development and support


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee staff in the Engineering, Maintenance and Security, ensuring effective direction, coordination and evaluation. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
