Senior Director of Engineering

The Senior Director of Engineering at Fullbay plays a critical leadership role in driving innovation and elevating engineering excellence across the organization. This individual will be responsible for leading and empowering high-performing teams to deliver exceptional user experiences through robust applications, scalable services, and resilient platform infrastructure.

With a strong emphasis on talent development, coaching, and engagement, the Senior Director will foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical mastery. This role will also be instrumental in shaping the future of Fullbay’s engineering function by developing strategies, implementing tools, and defining performance metrics that support the company’s long-term growth objectives.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Development and Engineering teams supporting the broader engineering function.
  • Provide strategic and technical direction to the team, shaping long-term vision and guiding problem-solving approaches in alignment with business goals.
  • Oversee and evolve Fullbay’s technology stack, including AWS cloud services, PHP, and Laravel frameworks, to support scalable and reliable platform development.
  • Regularly assess team performance, deliver actionable feedback, and foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion individual growth by mentoring and coaching team members in line with their passions, strengths, and career aspirations.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration by partnering with stakeholders across Product, Security, and other departments to align on priorities and amplify the team's organizational impact.
  • Promote best practices in system reliability, automation, and deployment while ensuring high standards in software quality and platform security.
  • Adheres to all confidentiality and compliance regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including at least 5 years in technical leadership or management roles, with a proven track record of scaling teams and delivering complex systems.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience, including 3+ years in a senior engineering leadership role, with a history of scaling teams and systems in high-growth environments.
  • Proven success in leading, mentoring, and growing engineering teams, including direct management of Engineering Managers and individual contributors.
  • Strong background in AWS technologies, with deep expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and scalable service design.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple software development stacks, spanning web, backend, and infrastructure layers.
  • Excellent technical acumen paired with strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills to influence across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A passion for building high-quality products and fostering a culture of engineering excellence and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, agile environments; startup experience is a plus.
  • Committed to team success and cultivating an environment of trust, accountability, and continuous growth.
