What you get to do:

  • Oversee the project development process for attractions. Ensure timely completion of project milestones, including funding approvals. Approve selection of architectural & engineering consultants; oversee & direct their design efforts throughout the development process. Support bidding and approval of contractor selection, as well as the contracting process. Ensure a smooth transition through the hand-off of the project to the project execution team.
  • Coordinate technical details for attraction projects, including site and system engineering, ride development and design (in support of the Rides and Engineering team), creative and thematic integration, and construction feasibility.
  • Provide oversight of attraction capital projects to the SEA project management teams, as assigned. Look for opportunities to improve the efficiency of project management tools, and to optimize the results achieved.
  • Provide oversight and direction for the execution and completion of projects in SEA parks. Oversee and direct project management efforts to ensure proper and timely completion of construction activities for attraction projects. Guide the selection of key contractors and vendors for attraction projects.
  • Actively participate in project planning and feasibility analysis for new attraction development. Guide project teams in the completion of attraction design, risk analysis, project scheduling, and project estimating for attraction projects.
  • Oversee the design, engineering, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new ride attractions. Actively participate in ride development and the technical coordination of ride systems with site construction.
  • Mentor project management resources across SEA. Guide staff development and succession planning efforts. Develop D&E Ambassador project management skills, including design and construction expertise; knowledge of codes, company standards and controls/procedures; plus schedule and budget management proficiency.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with theme park design professionals, specialty consultants, contractors, ride vendors, and other key players for attraction projects.

What it takes to succeed:

A highly motivated, technical, strategic & creative professional whose attributes include the following:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years combined experience in engineering design, project management, and construction management of amusement park attraction projects.
  • A professional engineering license.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues & develop effective plans and strategies.
  • Ability to effectively lead design & engineering professionals and flourish in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple major projects and processes simultaneously.
  • Technical & functional knowledge of the attraction design process; site utility systems; all building systems; the means and methods of construction; ride development, installation, and commissioning,
  • Technical & functional knowledge of water filtration and animal life support systems, preferred.
  • Ability to travel frequently and for extended periods of time.
