Overview
The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, mentor and coach Software Development Engineers at different levels of experience
- Work with architecture personnel, development team members and key stakeholders in developing solutions and roadmaps
- Interface with internal / external customer to understand requirements and help set priorities
- Manage and execute against solutions and roadmaps created
- Own all operational metrics and support metrics for teams' software
- Utilizes independent judgement to drive improvements in team / development processes
- Review team member performances / formal review
- Work with the development team to create and maintain the standards by which the development team will operate. This includes, but not limited to, coding/design, testing/QA and implementation standards
- Exercise discretion to provide scheduled training and technologic/process advancement opportunities to team members
- Provide leadership by clearly communicating goals and objectives; providing support and structure keeping teams focused; encourage open discussion of issues; being an advocate for the team, department and company
Qualifications
- Leadership experience required (leadership of software development team preferred)
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- B.S. in CS/MIS/Related
- Positive team oriented attitude
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for learning and continuous improvement
Experience with the following technologies/methodologies a plus:
- SQL
- Node.JS
- Microsoft SQL Server
