Position Overview  


In 2015 Circle K started its journey on e-mobility path. Funding our EV Lab in Norway we started to evaluate vehicle charging business at our stations. From there in 2018 we’ve launched our commercial service in Norway. 2020 we started expansion in Sweden and Denmark, year after we went to Ireland and Baltics. To complement our offering, we’ve also launched B2B and Home products (charging at home, reimbursement, Utility in Norway). 
 

We achieved lots with our current teams, but we also need to expand. E-mobility & Energy in general is quite dynamic and an important growth area for both our company and region. We are expanding out development team located in Warsaw Circle K Business Centre. 
 

Circle K Business Centre is a shared service center which supports Circle K Europe operations through a wide range of services within Finance & Control, Information Technologies, Human Resources, Transport Fuel and Customer Service.

Position: Software Development Manager / e-mobility 

Organization/department: Global Technology / Global Development 

Section: Mobility Development 

Reports to: Senior Software Development Manager at Circle K Business Center 

Team: up to 24 people (2-3 teams) 

Contract type: open-ended contract 

Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for a person that shares passion for IT and energy related topics. If you ever wanted to be able to deliver solutions in charging area, maybe you had and idea to develop energy management system or you were wondering how market can build on top of V2G, you might just found a place to do that. 

We are driving delivery of Digital Solutions in our area, our key mission is to make customer life easier every day. You will need to learn how the ecosystem works, hopefully over time abbreviations like CPMS, CPO, EMSP, or protocols like OCPP, OCPI, OpenADR or Modbus will be your very easy for you. Make no mistake, our Digital Solutions are revolving around real hardware and you and your team might need to play around with chargers (DC and AC), BEV cars, large scale battery systems, EMS solutions, PV systems and so on. Actively working in ecosystem we are also looking to evaluate EMS, energy trading areas, grid solutions in general. 

Experience in any of those areas would be great plus, willingness to explore them and learn fast will also do :)! 

As emerging technologies are our daily bread, we need to build effective teams around those solutions. We are looking for experienced Leader with proven track record in IT delivering solutions to customers. You’ll be key player in building our culture, developing your teams, improving our organization.

Key responsibilities: 

The main scope of duty for this role will be to: 
 

Leadership and strategy 

• Contribute to the Software Strategy (respective business area) and the organization’s innovation effort, agile transformation and roadmap to establish regional capabilities 

• Work closely with a business stakeholder to ensure alignment on business goals, progress and deliverables. Ensure transparency, communication and great partnership 

• Manage expectations from the Business Stakeholders 

• Show clear direction to grow the software organization 

• Deliver results and value to Circle K business through quality software products 
 

People and organization 

• Lead up to 24 people who develop and maintain software 

• Foster a business-oriented culture and mindset in the organization, with clear understanding of the Team contribution to delivering on Circle K brand promise 

• Closely cooperate with the team, present them the growth directions as well as goals to be reached 

• Know and practice performance management. Be capable to deal with challenging situations and focus on effective resolutions 

• Build the team determined on delivering business outcome, agility, collaboration, teamwork and accountability 

• Accountability for managed services deliverables (if applicable) 

Software development, business unit management 

• Participate in defining technical solutions as a discussion partner for Architects and Developers 

• Ensure the overall success of software projects and programs he/she is in charge for to deliver with agreed business objectives 

• Contribute to development and lead roll-out of global software solutions, international www, as well as become a partner in discussions around other aspects the Software Unit will be in charge for 

• Be accountable for performance, governance and security of the application portfolio, and ensure The Software Unit is able to meet key standards and regulations such as PCI, GDPR, others applicable 

Cost and budget: 

• Develop and control annual budget within own scope, to ensure it is consistent with strategic objectives and within plan 

• Manage the business and financial impacts of the technical decisions 

• Identify and deliver on cost reduction initiatives to continue becoming more efficient on run cost 

• Follow up KPIs and ensure regular and consistent reporting of progress against goals 

Key requirements: 

Education and experience 

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, information systems, related field or equivalent work experience 

• 3+ years of experience of leading software development team (20+ employees)

• 3+ years of experience with lean-agile software development and DevOps culture

• Very good knowledge of scrum, and deep understanding of agile values

• 7+ years of hands on software development experience

• Knowledge of SAFe is an additional value 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English 

• Experience in Vendor Management in software area 

Knowledge/Skills 

• Have experience in working as a part of global and distributed organization 

• Be able to manage risk and uncertainty, establish good governance and work systematically with security and stability in dynamically growing environment 

• Be a strong leader focused on individuals development, constructive feedback on support for the team 

• Have experience in leading regional teams, insourced and outsourced resources 

• Be “the bridge” between technical teams (software developers, solution architects) and the business interlocutors 

• Have expertise in budget planning and financial management 

• Have collaborative approach, agile mindset and be a team player 

• Present strong business acumen, customer centric approach with great problem solving skills and high accountability 

• Be able to build consensus, making decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives 

• Be active listener, with solid presentation and communication skills 

• Optimistic, openminded, problem solver, able to create “safe experimental environment” for the team 

• Have strong sense of self, ethics and effort, as well as the willingness to go the extra mile to achieve important goals
