Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering for Covisus Inc. The successful candidate will lead the software engineering team to spearhead the development and implementation for a cutting-edge imaging hardware and software system designed specifically for tracking supply chain items within the military/aerospace and medical supply chain sectors. Covisus has developed an award-winning and industry-leading technology for tagless tracking of assets based on its vTag® technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert (SME) on all aspects of the core product: algorithms, architecture, implementation.
  • Manage a technical team of dev ops that implements via SAFe 6.0 methodology.
  • Set strategic and tactical direction of the team with ownership of the team’s execution, deliverables at the sprint-level (agile scrum, “SAFe-like”).
  • Own the architecture and a technology roadmap that aligns with Covisus’ business plan and product roadmap.
  • Work collaboratively with CEO, VP of Products and VP of Operations to plan and deliver products, enhancements and support sales opportunities.
  • Represent the technologies and developments within the company, supporting Product, Sales and Business.
  • Technical deliverables include ownership and accountability for product deliverables to ensure products are developed and delivered to the customer as planned.

Qualifications

  • Direct experience of architecture design, approval of deployed systems & their integration, including engines & services that are either cloud-based or edge computing.
  • Direct experience in managing technical teams ranging in size of 3-15 individuals that includes goal-setting, technical leadership & overview, and technical risk mitigation / problem-solving.
  • Direct experience or desire to be customer-facing in business opportunities with both internal & external stakeholders (3rd party vendors, customers, board member, etc.).
  • Direct experience in implementing a business plan with a technical roadmap.
  • Expert Python engineer with strong Linux expertise and preferred Windows experience.
  • Leads development of robust applications with potential web/cloud integration via RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Experienced across diverse environments—including native Linux development and occasional Apple platforms (e.g., Swift)—and skilled in CI/CD practices to ensure reliable, maintainable software delivery.
  • Direct experience with the following technologies: Python, Linux, Windows, Microservices, CI/CD, Full Stack Web Development, SQL database, AWS, Docker.
