Summary

Plans, organizes, and manages the maintenance and engineering functions related to buildings, grounds, and equipment; procurement generation, and distribution of utilities. Responsible for new projects and construction.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or other related field of study required. Certified Health Facility Manager (CHFM) with American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) preferred.  Licensure as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina is preferred. Must possess valid North Carolina driver’s license. Minimum of five years' experience as a Director of Engineering in an acute care hospital or health system setting. Must have knowledge of construction practices, mechanical maintenance, applicable codes and safety programs. Certified Health Facility Manager (CHFM) with American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) required. Licensure as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina is preferred.
Must possess valid North Carolina driver’s license. Supervisory skills to effectively communicate with department staff. Ability to move throughout the Health System. Visual acuity for reviewing written reports, blueprints, etc.; etc. speaking ability to make presentations and provide instruction. Ability to inspect and direct work often involves stooping, lifting, climbing, and carrying.
